Very pleased that the tutorials have proved useful. Sorry for the fast clicking. 15 years as a network admin means I tend to click away a bit fast!

I'll do my best to slow it all down a little for future videos :D

About a year later...

I finally gave this a go for an hour or so this afternoon, and I was delighted to see my first ever model ingame, despite it looking crappy.

Thanks for this tutorial, Jim. One of my new year's resolutions is to try and get the hang of Blender, and I've just used your tutorials to help me get my first asset into the game. It's a brick-textured object called 'Stone Wall' (don't ask) - I had to start somewhere! Anyway, I really appreciate you having taken the time to put this together.

Thanks for the post on forward facing trees.
I was challenged to make a forward facing tree and this is the result.

I am using Blender 2.79 and the BRIAGE_G_2.79Pckg_2-2-4 exporter.
The videos where great and the info is mostly still relevant.
The export setup is quite different as the interface is now included in Blender.
You no longer need the extra material slots as you select the correct shader in the Material tab.
This then shows how many slots are required for the Texture.
The other issue I had was the ForwardFacingQuad.png to .ace
I used the ForwardFacingQuad.ace file supplied in the download and the tree would not display with out a black shade which should be transparent. Converting the ForwardFacingQuad.png to ForwardFacingQuad.dds resolved this issue. I used the program Paint.net for the conversion.
for all textures I use Gimp 2.10.10 and export as DDS then convert with Paint.net to achieve the correct format to .DDS for Train Simulator. This make the conversion to .ace redundant.
Take up the FFTree challenge.

Now for some improved trees. I found some better textures and created two trees.

The Autumn tree used a save as of the first tree as I was having trouble getting the selection box and alpha to work.
The Green tree is a new blend file from scratch to see if the process is working.
One comment when the plane is created the plane rotation is 90 deg on X and 180 deg on Z.
You can see this in the video but not highlighted. I have not try creating a tree with the plane at 0 on the Z axis.
The plane is rotated to show in the back view with the Y axis pointing forward.
The normal model creation it the front view with the Y axis pointing away.
The issue is the Selection box has no texture and you have to ensure the Material is Assigned in the Material Tab.
I have put a series of images in the gallery showing the blend file setup and export.
