Railway Signs with Raised Lettering

Railway Signs with Raised Lettering

Postby Terrier060 » Thu Jun 04, 2015 8:05 pm

Well I've done simple ones so now I have had a go at raised lettering, typical of cast-iron signs used on the railway. It uses some more Blender techniques and enables you to standardise the size of your lettering, and Fonts throughout your route. You can see more examples in my Gallery.

I downloaded and read the series on Signs you created
Using the series and the experience I had gleaned from other I was able to create my first signs for Train Simulator

To say thanks I though a post of my efforts might be some encouragement and a way of saying thanks
I love Blender it is an amazing program when you think of the price you payed
The consistency of key inputs and the available option is impressive
The biggest hurdle I have found with my limited experience is the transition from pixels to dimensions
So you find ways to work around the problem
I have two signs so far and a few more to make
Ide Halt.jpg

They are all based on signs that did exist with photos to show the details
I did the modelling textures export and blue print with lots of trail and error and head scratching
Have to say your articles really made a huge difference and a big help
So thanks from Ausc

Thanks Ausc
Sorry I did not see your post before - I very much like your signs and glad I was of ome help. Actually Nobkins and others inspired me to post a few Blender ideas, because all the knowledge I have is from their excellent tutorials. Yes Blender is fun - but now I am trying to get my 'real' locos finished although I still put in some time on the route I am doing in the Vale of Glamorgan.
You can see my progress with the 'Terriers' on this other excellent forum:

All the best
