.ace file problem

.ace file problem

Postby Dave Fennessy » Fri Sep 12, 2014 7:58 pm

Having a bit of an issue with .ace files. When I convert say a .bmp or .png to an .ace either using the official RWtoACE or actually saving with Photoshop CS2 an an .ace file using the official plugin... it saves in a winrar suitcase. Strange I thought, then when I try to uncompress it it says the file may be damaged. I'm doing something wrong somewhere. Why the hell is it being zipped as it is saved?

It's not being zipped, don't worry - .ace is an old form of archive of some sort, from my understanding, which is also coincidentally a type of file WinRAR defaults itself to be the program to open. So, it thinks "ooh, a .ace file, it must be an archive", when in fact it's your normal image (which is why it's saying it may be damaged - it can't read it because it's an image, not an archive). Just use it as normal and you should be fine. :)

Thank you James for the explanation, it sort of become clearer once I'd run the Blueprint editor. I'm trying to run here when I should be walking :)

No problem. Good to be answering someone else's questions rather than begging for answers to my own for once. :D Best of luck.
