Postby Class1987 » Sun Jul 15, 2018 7:23 pm

Hi everyone, does anybody know how to create see through glass window texture? I'm currently creating Walsall train station and it has and 8 sided arch window for the waiting area and need to know how to create a see through window texture. If anybody knows how to do this or know of a tutorial can they let me know, cheers.

Hi guys I'm currently trying to do see through glass and having issues I've followed the instructions from the link I was sent but due the fact it's really out of date there are a load of functions that don't exist on the 3ds max that I'm using now which is 2016 the final version that can use the plug-in for game now. Has anybody done see through glass before and could they help me as I'm taring my hair out with it now.
Cheers, Ian.

Not sure what your problem is as the instructions on Derek's blog may be old but still work, although the various input fields are in different locations in Max 2016, they are still there.

One small point, I always use an uncompressed texture (-nm suffix) with an alpha channel in the first texture slot, the second slot can have anything you like as it's only an environmental pass.

If you're still stuck please post an image of your max texture entries for us to look at.

Try changing your .tga files to .dds in photoshop or use Dxtbmp.

Right I think I'm making a little progress since changing to a .dds file it has now changed the texture in the game a reflective purple colour??? Any advice, have I done anything wrong in the texture setup on the images I have sent you? If so an you tell me what to alter and change to get it fixed. Cheers, Ian.

Ian, when you export the .dds file you need to export it as an ARGB 8.8.8.8 file, the blueprint editor will change it to something suitable during export. If you don't do this you get the issue you mention.
