Ian,

In your materials you have set "Write Only" which should be "Test only" and, I know it doesn't sound right but, there is no need to set the "Transparent" flag, just leave it as "None".

Right I've done everything instructed and here is my texture now it still isn't see through, am I using the wrong type of window texture, do I need to create an alpha channel in photoshop? As I was thinking that might be the case of the problem, just want to make sure or don't I need to bother with that?
Cheers, Ian.
p.s if you like I can send you the texture file itself for you to take a look at.

You absolutely need an alpha channel to make it work. Go back to RSDerek's blog and look at the examples at the end of the blog.

Thought so, I've seen a lot of alpha channeling on textures before but never done one myself I've looked at the blog but doesn't really give me any insight on how to do the alpha channel I've been going through the internet trying to find out how it's done with trainglass.fx. I have noticed an alpha done automatically in my texture file on photoshop is that the alpha channel that I need? If not then how do I create one so I can get the glass to become see through to work for the window?
Cheers, Ian.

Open your glass texture in Photoshop then click on the channels button. If you already have an alpha channel it will show below the rgb channels, if not then click the new channel button in the bottom right hand corner, which will create an all black alpha channel. (If in doubt there are loads of sites on the web which will demonstrate this)

To help you see how it works I suggest you use the gradient tool to fill the alpha channel with a black to white gradient and save as dds. Have a look at the finished product and see what effect the changes from black to white has on the transparency of your glass.
