Googlewhack

Postby WeaselWorks » Tue Apr 07, 2015 11:38 pm

Anyone remember the sport of googlewhacking? It used to be when you put a phrase into the Google search and got no results... Mind you that was nearly twenty years ago, and now Google has matured to the extent that rather than tell the truth, it just gives you thousands of nearly relevant responses.

So my effort today was "train simulator 2015 art guidelines" and variations on the same. This is because when I put a soft shadow on my wagons, they disappear in game. Obviously the art guidelines have changed a bit in the last two or three years, but there's no updated documentation.

At least, not that I can find. Can anyone point me to a place where this is, (or at least tell me what to use for my shadow.)?

Thanks

Mike

Thanks!

Except it's out of date, I guess. Because I'm getting a compile error "could not find shader SubtractATexDiff.fx"

However, I just found a file in the steam directory called shaderdesc which describes all the current shaders. Talk about out of the way documentation.

I'm going to guess that the right shader now is trainshadowonly.fx

It's not out of date, I added a soft shadow using that post as a guide and it worked just fine only last week. Might be that you've mistyped the shader name. SubtractATexDiff is a non .fx shader ;)
