I wish there was an easy way to record one of these ticking over to turn into a sound-dome. Imagine a bus waiting to connect with a train just thrumming away to itself while the crew had a smoke! It would certainly make a change from cockerels or church bells, if nothing else.....

If someone has access to or is able to stand next to a working vintage bus, and has a smart phone with a voice recording app or anything else that will record sound that can be transferred onto the PC, that would be all you need to quickly make a new bus sound dome. :)
Does anyone live near to a museum with working buses? Beamish, Keighley, Carton Colville all come to mind.

Another beautiful model, Brian, looking forward to seeing more buses. :)

Kind regards,
Chris

That's an interesting tip, Chris.

There are preserved buses at the GCR(N) and Midland Railway Butterley but they're rarely run as far as I know. I'll have to keep my eyes open for days when they do run them as I'm close to both in Derby.

Another beautiful model, Brian, looking forward to seeing more buses. :)

Brian still claims he doesn't know what he's doing. Gawd help us if he ever does get to know! ;-)

*Polite cough* Would some noises from MY AEC Regent III help? If you search for "HDK835" under my user name Rochdale 235 on Flickr or jp4712 on YouTube, I have uploaded videos to both that include the engine idling. I'm perfectly happy for you to rip the sounds off any of those to use. Alternatively PM me with your e-mail address and I can send you the uncompressed sounds. And if if in return anyone feels like making a Rochdale Corpration version.... ;)

Your videos on YouTube really took me back to my childhood. I'm sure we'll be able to use the sounds with Brian's bus. Thanks for the offer.

Brian tells me the bus he's modelling is the low-height version and that the LT RLH version is on his radar but no promises!

That's a great looking vehicle Paul, If it is the same one I can remember seeing it at the Sheffield Bus Museum in the early 1990's when they used the old Tram Depot. I think that could have been a Regent V though now I think about it. I did a repaint of Kevin McGowan's Regent model in that livery as best I could with the mapping.
