BR Steam era Gill Sans

Postby Robert Tarling » Sat Apr 26, 2014 6:51 pm

Hello everyone,

As many of you will be aware, the typeface that BR used in the steam era was not the commercially available version of Gill Sans, but one which had many differences, particularly so with regard to the numerals.
A little while ago, I crafted this variant, to represent the version that BR used on steam loco cabsides, smokeboxes and platforms signage etc. I have already passed this file on to a few developers, and I'm happy to make it more widely available to you all.

Hopefully the attached file will be of use, which normally appears in the fonts list as as Gill Sans Std OTT (or similar).

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.
