Red Orchestra 2/ Rising Storm

Postby Chris89 » Fri Apr 18, 2014 9:22 pm

Just to see how many people play the above mentioned games on here overall.

Also if you do how often you do etc.

Other things, Im sure some of you who played it have seen the teaser screenshots and the future coming update which includes Transports being a Bren Carrier for the Russians and a German SDKfz 251. Which will be included on Barashka, Rakowice and a new version of Arad (More similar to the RO:OST Version). All of which are great fun to use, both as a passenger and using them for target practice as Solider/Anti Tank Solider and Tanker (Which i recommend using HE shells against them, as AP rounds will not do that much damage)

A New game mode called Search and Destroy, which is closest to say like bomb mode on Counter Strike series, i haven't played it that much but it is interesting.

Finially a Map called Maggot Hill for Rising Storm. Which is based on the battle of Nhpum Ga by Merrill's Marauders (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merrill's_Marauders) The map is a US defense with the Japanese attacking the select capture points around the Main HQ, until they try to overun the American forces. The map it's self is great and fun and has developed a long way since i first saw it.

Shall of course be a trailer released somepoint soon, in which when released i shall post here and if i can point myself out i will mention where about i am on it.

Link to the direct update information: http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/s ... hp?t=98816

Lastly if any of you have played Rising Storm and looked at the credits you might see a similar name under QA testers, which brings me to the last point. If anyone is interested in helping in testing new maps, features, weapons etc. Please say so and give me your details so i can forward them on. But Teamspeak is needed to listen to instructions and of course a mic is always helpful. Also if any questions about that, please be free to ask and i will answer as far as the NDA allows me.

It's a superb game, but one I've not played very much myself, mostly because FPS on PC is so hardcore compared to my days of Codding on Xbox. Also, it's not so fun if you're terrible at the game like me (oh the chat box when you accidentally shoot a fellow soldier...).

At least you both play though :P

Even us who know the sneaky parts of the maps can fail badly, at least for me really :P

Yep, I remember once on one of the night maps hiding in a bush on one of the flanks, only to get outflanked myself by some Japanese soldier who I couldn't dam well see yet he could easily see me, at that point i realised that he probably had his brightness turned all the way up to assist seeing in the dark, which i promptly did in revenge and that certainly helped seeing in the dark :D

That map can be a pain for that. But very fun, especially when you manage to Bayonet Americans with the Type 100 SMG.

Anyway.

Update is released, it is 8.5gb due to file change method for maps, as soon as the trailer gets posted i will post the link.

Edit: http://www.youtube.com/v/z73obSu7SmM

Chris just sent me a link to the game which is completely free (to keep forever) for 24 hours.

It has already started so be quick.

I believe it is slightly restricted compared to those that own Rising Storm. Chris will probably elaborate soon :D

Just search for red orchestra 2 in steam. Make sure you install it as if you don't it will return to its regular price.

Here is the link to the game: http://store.steampowered.com/app/35450/

As Jim asked me to clear a bit up.

With above, You get full access to RO2. Which means the Eastern front being Germans against Russians. All maps, modes and ranking/ unlock systems.

You will also get free access to Rising Storm. Which is set in the Pacific with Japanese against Americans. With the free version, you are limited to Rifleman Role only, with bolt action rifles to use (Although doesn't stop you picking up any weapon from the ground, expect the Flamethrower) You also will not get Achievments or anything to do with Ranking/ Unlocks.

If you purchase Rising Storm you gain access to all of those things + get to support the team who are behind it being Antimatter Games http://www.antimattergames.com (Website is down/ bit i go on to sadly)
