I upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, I found that 3D Crafter didn't work any more. I rolled back to Windows 7 as I can't be without Crafter.

I've upgraded and use crafter regularly without issue

So far so good! 3dCrafter hasn't reverted to Free mode as it would do weekly under both Win 7 and 8.

Further to my post on earlier versions of 3ds max, thanks to a work round posted on youtube (unfortunately in Russian) I now have my version working under windows 10 with only one minor glitch (scroll wheel won't zoom in UVunwrap).

However, Autodesk have clearly stated they will not be supporting versions earlier than 2014 for compatibility with Windows 10.

As I noted deep down in the flight sim board where no-one else goes ( :) ) installing Win 10 kind of put the kiss of death on FSX and rendered FS9 only playable in a window. I've too much interest in flight simming to kiss it all goodbye so I'm currently installing the Dovie/Steam edition of FSX to see how that fares. Worst case scenario I shall roll back to Win 7 and still have a more up to date edition of FSX.

Has anyone tried dual booting? You can then always revert to Win7 if there are problems?

Upgraded over the weekend because I thought well, might as well :) Suffered a common problem in that when starting PC, initial welcome screen was replaced by a black screen and a cursor. The cursor worked perfectly so I sat there for 15 minutes.... and then realised this was it. After a scrabble through YouTube on the trusty Kindle it was suggested to open Task Manager and manually run explorer.exe. That brought my desktop back. Following further advice you have to go into regedit and manually type explorer.exe in the correct location. The fast start tick from power options also has to be unticked , rebooted then ticked. So now I have a working PC and Win 10 seems pretty stable. I really shouldn't have had to do any of that.

This morning I was playing a scenario with a trusty old IHH Class 33 and once into Fratton platform the game wanted me to install the game disk. Never had that before. Does that mean I now always have to run TS as administrator or is there another tweak to be made?

That had me confused at first, but I believe that this is the new SBHH or Temp Dump message.

Kind regards,
Chris

I wish I could say you were right!

No, sadly this dates back to even the days of the SBHH. It doesn't seem to have a discernible cause - some people I know have had it when trying to start TS, others when loading a route or certain parts thereof, etc.
