Southerndown signalling

Postby Terrier060 » Thu Jan 21, 2016 6:36 pm

Hi

I have a BR signalling diagram (enclosed) for Southerndown and have got signal A working OK using the 0, 1 and 2 placements shown. But I cannot get signal B working and wonder if anyone can help. I assume the signals on the up line are similarly arranged.

I would very much appreciate some help.

Many thanks

Ed

I guess that signal B is actually two signals on a shared bracket. The larger doll with the higher arm is for the through track while the lower arm on the shorter doll is for the loop.

In RW (TS2016), these are two distinct signal asset, each of 1T type. That means that link 0 goes next the signal in the track to which the signal belongs and link 1 goes beyond the convergence (where you put 2 in your diagram).

Link 2 of signal A goes besides link 1 but in the through track.

If you go for default signals, pick something with 1T in the name. It will have a single arm on a post.

There are signal kits from freeware creators that offer bare brackets and extra dolls to cover this case. But this might be more complication that you want to deal with at the moment.

Thanks for your swift reply AndiS.
I think you have hit the nail on the head. Signal A seems to be OK with your amendments, but signal B needs to be two separate signals on the same bracket, as you say. I would like to follow the BR diagram if I can rather than use separate signals. I have downloaded your pack but am not sure whether that will allow me to make up a suitable bracket? I have worked with Blender on station name boards as you will see elsewhere on the site. But I am no way as proficient as most of you.

My pack just contains assets that use the old default shapes, so there is no help for you there. I still encourage using it from a start. :D

Mark Brinton gave permission to relaunch his signals using my shapes. I am in the process of putting such a pack together. It will take many more weeks. His focus is on SR.

After I complete this pack, I will look for the next ones, like GWR and LNRW.

If you want a quick solution now, I suggest looking at the latter (created by John Yelland and Anthony Brailsford, respectively). They use the default scripts and feature the brackets and dolls you need.
