Improved looking at focus for interactable units
Lever Interlocking Implemented
Basic Error Checking complete
Accelerated timetable with crossing trains

Notes:
Have improved the look at focus when selecting levers etc, also enabled Middle Mouse Button operation of interactables.
Full lever interlock now enabled, Using the signalmans answer to the question which lever do you pull ... Answer the one that will move.
It is possible to pull a wrong lever AIRL,
Once the next block has released your signals Both the home and Starter will move, But if you pull the starter the home cannot be moved... so Home First Then Starter (section signal)
Bellcode error checking implemented,
It is now possible to have trains running in both directions simualtaneously through your block, This in effect doubles the load so would be interested to hear how it performs.
It should run on automatic, although if it has slowed down your computer a lot.......It may well trip up the timing.
If you attempt it on manual, be prepared.. it can get hectic
I have left Rev 2 links at the bottom if the load on Rev4 is too much.
The light engine is the final service in this Timetable

Hi Paul,

Merry Christmas to you, too.

Well I have certainly enjoyed it thus far. Will have a look at rev2 today.

My specs for your info:

Windows 10 x64
Intel i7 4790k @4.4GHz overclocked
GTX 980Ti 6GB
16GB DDR3 RAM @ 1866Mhz

If you want any more of those then just let me know.

The first version you posted performed flawlessly in terms of FPS/smoothness etc.

A little choppiness in terms of the responsiveness in manual mode but one assumes that that is partly down to me not being as familiar with it as you!

I'll see what rev 2 is like.

All the best,
James

Hi James
Thanks for the comments,
Your spec is practically identical to my main rig, so should be performing well.

Rev 2 fixes a bug in west side SB (auto) not returning block instrument to Blocked when operating in manual mode

I hope to have the error (bellcode overlapping) checking sorted this week

For a 3 wire analog system it is immensly complex to turn into a binary (on/off) digital system when combining manual and auto methods of operation.

Cheers

Hi Sly,

Just downloaded your UE4 signal simulator - it downloaded and installed without any problems - First impressions are of the wonderful graphics. So much softer than TS - I love the way the ground textures blend - for example the ballast and grass - the long 3D grass looks incredible - the surfaces on the signal box with shine and bump are also impressive. So far I've enjoyed watching the trains go by and watching the signal box work in auto - no glitches at present.

Thanks.

Cheers

Hi Paul,

Happy new year, and I hope you had a great Christmas! Thank you very much for letting us all have a play with the demo. I'm particularly impressed that one man alone has managed to build what's shaping up to be a very impressive indie title, so a huge well done! :)

Exploring the environment and interacting with the signalbox controls is very smooth on my system. Some specs for your data collection:

Win10 64-bit
i5-4690K @ 3.5GHz
16GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce GTX 970

I'm looking forward to watching this one continue to develop and evolve. :)

Kind regards,
Chris

Hi Paul,

Am I allowed to ask what settings you used for the grass which I really liked the look of - I'm trying to learn UE4 and I'm finding it hard to get the grass looking anywhere near as good as yours - I think it's a lighting problem with mine.

Looks too solid and artificial - I tried a sub surface lit material but it was too washed out - I tried translucent controlled by the alpha channel but it had z fighting problems.

Thanks.

Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul

Its a Custom shader I created within UE4, with much trickery involved :-)

I thought that might be the case ! :)

The shaders look complex with lots of variations.

Hi Paul

Are we talking about terrain painted grass or the 3D ?

In the screenshots the grass on the terrain looks like it does not have any normals,
The 3D grass looks like it has shadows enabled , were they painted on with the landscape tool ?
If so turn the shadows off they wil kill your PC.

If its ground textures you are looking for , best tip is to purchase some from the Epic Marketplace then pull them apart and reconfigure to suit your needs,
The landscape tools are very powerful but take some learning ( got lucky with this one and am no expert )

The 3d grass I have used is a mix of a dozen or more commercial grasses purchased from the marketplace, usually rescaled, shadows off and desaturated .
You can paint all of them at the same time setting parameters for scaling , density etc , sometimes you get a good mix

Sorry I can't be totally specific but making a competitors game (DTG) look better would not be a good idea for me :-)

Happy New Year all
