I came here to make trains, not appliances!!

Postby Jordi » Sun Nov 02, 2014 10:46 pm

It's always fun to see the shapes and objects we have to make in the course of our projects. Today I decided to tackle the rather serious-looking cab fan.

All in all, took about an hour and about 3,000 polys. As far as I can tell its very accurate, right down to the blades having the correct curvature and blending.

The fun is not over yet, however...For mapping is still to begin.

Maybe this could be a new computer sport..... Extreme modelling! Can you handle the polys!

I have to say though that it is missing the heavy coating of dust (maybe to come in the texturing) and the sound effect needs to either be silent (because it does not work) or so annoyingly noisy you decide you would rather be too hot :D

Assuming of course the textures and sounds are going to be as extreme as the model!

The textures will make it look so filthy you won't even want to turn it on. :D

I almost forget... I assume it will be animated and that when you try to adjust the angle of the fan the player runs the risk of completely snapping the fan off from the seized ball joint.

Great work Jordi. Is it for a new model in development or is it hush hush at the moment :D

Will the texturing have dust on the cutting side of the blades :)

Looking good whatever it will eventually become ;)

That's the approach I take with my wife, it means she leaves alone and I get some time for reskinning (only kidding).
