After a lot of going round and round in circles and getting dizzy, couplings!

And the Ommr is almost there, too, aside from the stupid wheels rotating on completely the wrong axis, so I must sort that... can't remember what I did to sort it out on the SSyms! I'll come at it again with fresh eyes again another time.

Normal maps being redone for both wagons tomorrow. Small sound issues on the Ommr and minor mapping adjustments on the SSyms and we'll almost be ready to go.

I've figured out (sort of...) a nice way of scripting the loads, to minimise the number of variants of each wagon that will appear in the list - only one, despite the numerous different loads for each. Hopefully I can put it into practice but I've worked out the principle in my head!

The unbelievable happened: I found something to improve in this stuff -- I never thought I could ever do that.

So telling you that this looks great has an information value of zero and I just cut out such comments to save the guy who supports this forum from the download costs of such statements. But finding any detail to improve has an information value of 1, so the bytes are well used.)

...well what the hell is Nochsto?!

I shall have a word with one of my German colleagues and find out why he has allowed this atrocity to go unnoticed.

It will be a case of OCR performed by a human not familiar with the German language.

Don't be harsh on these guys, I cannot replace any of them. I can't even spell Nochsto properly.

Having a German checking every letter is a good idea. I remember the first German wagons by RSDL which they repainted for all sorts of load (cement, graphite powder), but they did not remove the big sign reading "engine sand only".

Well the most amusing thing is we have two very diligent and attentive members of staff who ARE German, yet somehow after all this time neither have picked up on that error. The wagon was made by a Hungarian, though, so I'll let him off.

To be fair, I wouldn't count on a lot of English speakers picking up on English typos; I am not very good at it myself, in fact I often miss out entire words when trying to type at the same pace as I think and talk, even after reading it back to myself before hitting the send button.

Kind regards,
Chris

I'm back!

Sort of.

But, yes, wahey!

Valve gear fully animated using a new method which I'm quite pleased with. My desire was to have nothing animated by hand but sadly that didn't end up being the case - I think it's visually quite acceptable though.

I've animated all of the whistle linkage - it's not amazing but it looks totally acceptable - and of course the smokebox door opens. Just need to animate the clamps too. Handful of cab controls animated too.

We're getting there...
