Yorkshire in the 1960's

Strange, maybe this is an August thing for me as I've now gone back to this route, but now I have very much extended it and I hope it will now attract a wider audience!

I'm also backdating the route to be broadly 1956-62.

I have forgotten to take an updated map image but current route track is as follows:
Featherstone-Oakenshaw (Virtually up to Wakefield MPD) (L&Y)
Wakefield Westgate-Nostell (ECML Leeds line)
Goose Hill Junction (Normanton)-Royston Junction (Former MML)
Part of the Hull and Barnsley/Dearne Valley Railway from Crofton West Jn-Ryhill Halt
Ackton Hall/Don Pedro/Sharlston Collieries-Snydale Sidings (MML) mineral line (steep!)
Crofton Hall Sidings
Crofton East Junction Yard
Walton Colliery
Crofton West Jn-Hare Park Junction (connects L&Y with ECML).

Anyway, here's some screens of the latest work (where I've added basic scenery).

Image
A 9F works up the gradient away from Crofton East Junction and towards Sharlston/Featherstone/Pontefract with a rake of 21T hoppers

Image
We arrive at Oakenshaw Sidings and immediately climb to the top of the banking to find the Walton Colliery Austerity shunting in the sidings adjacent to the Midland Mainline

Image
45562 'Alberta' (pride of Holbeck) storms through Oakenshaw North Junction and towards Normanton (Still a sort of "Crewe of the north" at this time!)

Image
73053 of Leeds Holbeck races south past Oakenshaw Sidings with a short semi-fast working

Image

Then that turned up ;)

I'll post more progess as I make it :)

Cheers,
Mark

Track map:

Current (extending every day) extremities are:
West:Wakefield Westgate
South:Royston
South (2):Ryhill Halt on DVR
South (3):Nostell
North East:Pontefract Tanshelf
North:Goosehill Junction (Normanton)

EDIT:North on the map should read MML North not South....!

I second that - PARTICULARLY as it is a steam route. Once I finalise the Copy Pit route (in about 2 years time), you can send me some coal over the Pennines!

More progress.

Very much WIP on this section,no signals or detail away from the track yet,but here is a Std Five passing through Sandal and Walton station with a semi fast service in 1960.

Well perhaps, but the first post in here you made this year was a couple of days ago, and I'm on here for hours every day!
