Pylons

Pylons

Postby Rockdoc2174 » Mon Jan 11, 2016 10:55 am

I have two questions wrapped in one enigma! An electricity line passes over the Friargate line to the south-west of Morley tunnel so I thought I'd add some pylons, at least. Looking through the assets I found "Pylon L12" and "Pylon L12 Cables" and I added the pylons. So far, so good.

We're trying to minimise the number of payware assets and, so far, have managed to restrict them to the Woodhead and Weardale routes but the pylon asset doesn't have a WH or WVR prefix so I did a search on my Asset folder and discovered that they are contained in the Just Trains CommonLibrary/Scenery/Procedural folder. That's peculiar because I don't have any JT boxes ticked in the World Editor. So my questions are:
  1. Why do the pylons appear in my list of available assets when I don't have their parents ticked?
  2. Are there any other pylons available for TS?

I think I've cracked it. I have Cresston installed and that includes an L12 pylon by Mundo. I've used his lock gates so the chances are that's why this one shows up. Strictly speaking it's an anachronism because it's stated as a 1980s design but as there's no alternative it'll have to do!

I found one in Weardale but it's under Miscellaneous, not Industrial. Why aren't these things simple? <sigh!>

I spend more time looking for an asset I saw once than actually placing them

If you are still interested in using Mundo's stuff, he has an upgraded version of the pylons here which also includes further variants of power cable, I'm not sure how they fit in period wise though. http://uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php? ... leid=30832

Another advantage is that they of course have prior permission to be bundled with the route.
