Use of Dummy Yard signals

Can anyone point me in the right direction on the use of Dummy yard signals, as found in Settle-Carlisle, Woodhead, Port Road
Here is an image of the Port road one
https://www.flickr.com/photos/113166928@N08/42098246641/in/dateposted-public/

The Woodhead one is RailNetwork\Signals\WH_dummy_yard.xml and Settle-Carlisle is RailNetwork\Signals\SC_dummy_yard.xml, both using a small bush as their physical image

Are they used to send a message to the first main line signal after the yard?

regards

Nick

PS any hints on posting an image directly into a post rather than going through a gallery, such as Flickr?

AFAIK the dummy signal is placed at last point on the track, as the second last signal will send message forward and if no signal is present the signal system will break down.
See this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7oxkxX6d4w&list=PL9DHSvtA6yvSfjkhQesr-eSjTcrpgSSFU&index=39
Flick image should have a link like this - https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/954/28216 ... 9604_k.jpg

Yes, that is what I thought (though I stated it the wrong way round

Not much use, I am afraid, for semaphores. I have never had problems with placing/using colour lights on my routes

But that still does not place the image DIRECTLY into the post.

Write [ img ] [ / img ] before the link and without spaces like this

Yes, but what I am asking is - how do you create the link? Or better still, load in an image directly from your own PC (as can be done in other forums)
The link I posted would show the image directly in other forums

I have made them an attachment in the past.
Under the text field where you type your post, find tab "Upload Attachment" to the right of "Options".

This process is for Flickr Images, should work well with others also.

Doh - forgot about the attachment part. That is exactly what I need. No need to put anything in a gallery or on Flickr

Thanks Andi

And thanks GT46PAC

I've always shied away from dummy signals, at the risk of massively and unprototypically oversignalling yards, for the simple reason that I've never figured out how these signals are supposed to convey to the player whether they have the road or not? Are two aspect semaphore bushes a thing? :P
