Compress texture

Postby honeybaobao » Wed Apr 04, 2018 12:15 pm

Hi

I find out that some assets I designed have heavy texture and I wish compress it but can not because I already convert with blueprint editor. If someone have some ways thanks a lot in advance it’s the TgPcDx files

You can just export a replacement smaller texture with the same name in the Editor.

Which you do by right-clicking the texture in the blueprint editor, and clicking Export -> Export this Only.

Try not to use 4096*4096.

Honestly, for scenic assets, 1024 should be you max. Pack the UVs efficiently.

I beginners yesterday to reduce the resolution of the textures and work very well. It was on 2048x2048 and I get down to 256x256, because this route will have a lot of assets, I will see the quality later, how it will work. Thanks more

Save higher resolution textures no more than 1024 x 1024 for important track side buildings, 256 x 256 could look poor close up.

There is a document on HOWTOUSE_TS13 in RailWorks/dev folder. See if it helps you. That document talks about how to comoress or not compress when exporting textures from BlueprintEditor v2
