Water Texture

Water Texture

Postby ukrichb » Mon Dec 22, 2025 7:10 pm

Hi All,

It's back to Train Simulator for the winter :)

I have made a stream with water in it, but I am not very happy with the water texture I have. Any idea how one makes the lovely reflective water that you can get with the water squares? As my stream runs downhill, it was too difficult to make squares like I do for canals, which are level and change altitude via locks.

Any help would be appreciated - from anyone who has done it. I've used the waterscenary.fx , but it's not quite what I am after...unless I have set it up incorrectly. I have a normal map in Slot 1, a blue colour in Slot 2 and a gray alpha object in Slot 3.

I never did anything the like but for running water, I would assume that you need UV-animation. Kuju hat a guide on that. They did these infamous birds in the original release that got dropped rightfully in one of the next releases.

And I wonder if you get away without reflection. Not the real one but just white.

There was a guy who did a semitransparent glass shelter. You could take something from then, maybe.

And there is Uber shader or so that was used by someone on an uber engine model. It had reflection/shine, but maybe no transparency.
