Creating sound files?

Postby Class1987 » Thu Mar 18, 2021 2:19 am

Hi everyone I’m considering making my custom station announcement sound effects for my route and would like some advice of how I go about this, obviously I have to create a sound blueprint which I have been reading to do this but what I need to know is what is the correct software for me to import these sounds into train simulator or can it be any software? I do have my own microphone which I use anyway for other projects that I use in pinnacle studios, can I use this software for the custom sounds or do I need to use a pacific audio program for the importation into train simulator? If anybody can advise me on this I would be most grateful cheers, Ian.

The documentation seems to be talking about WAV files if I remember that correctly.

So anything that creates some .wav file will be a candidate. You stick that in as a source in that blueprint. As far as I remember there is also some proxy file involved, with extension .xmlproxy. It should be mentioned in the Dev Docs.

The harder bit is to make the right announcement sound at the right time. I would do a forum search here and on UKTS. It has been discussed ages ago. Options seem to be scenario triggers and pseudo signals.

To go from .wav to .dav you need this converter program.
Most programs have no issues with .wav file.
I believe TS need .dav files.
Download this convertor from UKTS.
UKTS_18204_DavDecoder
This will convert the .dav files to and from .wav.

Audacity is a freeware program to handle and edit sound files.
Do some recording and reduce the sound like the DTG station announcement.
I would not be adding it to a paid route as you will have copyright issues.
You could do your own announcements and record the sound.
