In game map before google???

Postby RobertM » Sun Feb 17, 2019 6:30 pm

Now forgive my ignorance here, but I remember before the google map overlay there was another programme used where map pictures were placed manually.

Is this programme still available from anywhere?

The programme is available in source, but of no use as is since Google changed the API.

It is RW Decal by Jim, release to the public to support writing a new version but no one volunteered.

What area do you wish to grab decals for. I have a large library (before Google Earth 6.1 went down recently, I grabbed another 1000 sets!). If I haven't got them, then perhaps others may. We could even set up a library. The problem with the present Google Overlay is that it doesn't extend far enough, and the constant whirling blue arrows are a distraction.

Strange thing is, last time I tried the Google API mine was still working without any insistence on adding a credit card.

Actually, better keep schtum on that one...
