Gen fence wire02

Postby Pjt1974 » Mon Apr 21, 2014 1:02 pm

I have a loft asset in my Kuju folder and I don't know where in the living daylights it came from.

Path
Kuju
Railsimulator
scenery\Procedural\gen_fence_wire02.xml

I've used it quite a bit on my route to Barrow and the Steam Workshop accepts it because it is in the Kuju folder even though it isn't an asset downloaded from Steam. If I can find out who's asset it is then, with permission, I can provide a separate download on here or UKTS.

I've gone from 'fit for firing' to 'full time fireman'. Does this mean I can fire those who are 'fit for firing'?

I have a feeling this is identical to gen_fence_wire_01. Not 100% sure but think so. I believe that with a route or download somewhere this asset is installed and ends up being used by mistake.

I just seem to remember coming across this issue with TPR and that what I did is swap all the 02's for 01's (just an inkling, I could definitely be mistaken!)

Open up the bin file for gen_fence_wire_01 and gen_fence_wire_02. Are the in-game names the same?

If they are make them different, delete blueprint.pak and then load up a test route and place both items in game. If they are the same you just have the small matter of renaming the reference in all your routes loft files from wire_01 to wire_02.

Now I have a tool that can do this automatically if you have a lot to do.

Let me know how you get on.

Looking at the bin files of both, Gen Fence Wire 01 is the Fence Wire Rural with wooden posts. 02 looks the same file but with metal posts.

Ahh it sounds like I decided I was happy to just swap to wooden post so opted for that option after being unable to find the author.

Now I come to think of it it was the Mayflower Line this happened on. I did not have the wire02 version but one of the other route creators did. When I was packaging it up into a freeware pack I found the issue, could not find the creator or how the other route creator had come by the file so swapped it all to the kuju default one.

Apologies for being late in on this one.

I recently came upon this issue with my modified version of the S&D route. After nearly 350 downloads, and several people writing of various missing assets, one person alone suddenly questioned the absence of this specific file.

I keep a "clean" TS installation on a spare computer for testing - clean in terms of no third-party add-ons but of course it is up-to-date with Steam and Railsimulator.com so any Steam-distributed add-ons I have purchased are present. This file is present on that machine.

So my conclusions are that if not a default item, it comes with an official add-on rather than a third-party one. Identifying which one is another story altogether!

Kindest regards,

John

Hi John, and welcome! :)

Just to throw a spanner into the works, my setup is almost as default as it gets and I don't have this asset listed... :?

So that's helpful.
